Who Invented the Pencil?
The invention of the pencil is widely attributed to a German man by the name of Conrad Faber von Erlach. Around 1662, he was said to have combined graphite with clay and created a writing instrument that stayed sharp while offering better control than previously used inks and quills.
Since then, the design of the pencil has evolved significantly, and the shape has become standardised. The icon shape of a pencil offers a comfortable grip and balance while writing. The diameter of a pencil is slimmer than most pens, allowing for more precise control and ease of use when writing cursive letters or creating illustrations. It also helps to prevent fatigue in the hand since less force is needed when pressing it against the paper.
